Jordan: Commercial sector goes on strike in protest of controversial landlords bill (March 18, 2012)

Merchants have shut their businesses until 13:00 pm on March 18, while trade unions held a sit-in outside of the parliament building, in a bid to change several articles of the law, which protesters deem as ‘unfair’. The strike and sit-in further highlight the increasing trend of socially-related protests in the Kingdom, putting more pressure on Awn Khasawneh’s unpopular government.
