Hundreds of anti-SCAF protesters are currently making their way from Mustafa Mahmoud Square in Giza towards Tahrir Square, under the banner ‘enforcing the people’s will’.
- The procession is to mark the events of March 9, 2011, when pro-democracy activists were for the first time forcibly dispersed by the state’s security forces as they staged an open-ended sit in at Tahrir Square.
- Since the morning hours, calm has been upheld in Tahrir Square, with traffic flowing as normal. Only several dozen protesters were reported in the iconic square early on March 9.
